SSG.com Accelerates Grocery Delivery Expansion and Differentiation

SSG.com is aggressively expanding its grocery delivery services, enhancing its competitiveness in the increasingly crowded online grocery market. Within just three months, the company has broadened its dawn delivery service to include the Yeongnam region, following its earlier expansion into the Chungcheong region. Simultaneously, SSG.com has extended same-day delivery for products from its warehouse club, Traders, to encompass the greater Seoul metropolitan area.

Starting July 20th, SSG.com expanded its same-day delivery service for Traders Wholesale Club products to cover most of the Seoul metropolitan area. Previously, same-day delivery, branded "Traders SSG Delivery," was limited to areas near physical stores, with other regions only having access to standard courier delivery. Now, customers in most of the Seoul metropolitan area can receive their Traders orders the same day if placed before 10 am. Orders placed after 10 am will be delivered on the designated day, with plans to extend the cutoff time and delivery area in the future.

This expansion is particularly significant as it now includes refrigerated and frozen goods, previously only available through SSG delivery near physical stores. This has boosted customer satisfaction, especially for those purchasing fresh foods like large-capacity meat products, fruits, and bakery items. Furthermore, the free shipping threshold for Traders products has been lowered from 120,000 won to 90,000 won, aligning with existing Traders SSG delivery and 택배 delivery standards, thus reducing shipping costs for customers.

In addition to Traders same-day delivery, SSG.com has also been expanding its dawn delivery (새벽배송) service. Following its expansion into the Chungcheong region in December, the service now reaches Busan. Customers in both the Chungcheong and Busan regions can receive their orders by 7 am the next day if placed before midnight. SSG.com also applies its "Freshness Guarantee System" to most fresh food items, offering easy refunds to customers dissatisfied with the product's freshness.

"The expansion of the dawn delivery service area is laying the foundation for the growth of the online grocery shopping category," an SSG.com official stated. They highlighted the strong growth in dawn delivery sales in newly serviced areas, with an 80% increase in the Chungcheong region from May 5th to 25th compared to the previous month. Overall dawn delivery sales also saw a 20% increase during the same period, demonstrating the effectiveness of the service area expansion.

To promote both dawn delivery and Traders same-day delivery, SSG.com is running several promotions. To celebrate the Traders same-day delivery expansion, the company is offering a free shipping coupon for Traders purchases of 60,000 won or more until August 16th. Popular Traders products, including fresh foods, are also being offered with weekly discounts on 10 select items.

Dawn delivery is also being promoted through regional events. In Busan, free shipping is offered for purchases of 20,000 won or more. Other promotions include a 10,000 won shopping basket coupon, up to 50% discounts on popular grocery items, and a gift event for a dozen eggs. Dawn delivery users in Gangnam, Songpa, Seocho, and Dongtan are eligible for coupons offering up to 100,000 won in benefits over three months through leaflets. A "Mirukku Coffee" giveaway is also running for purchases of 70,000 won or more.

"We are maximizing delivery synergy by collaborating with CJ Logistics so that more customers can shop online for groceries quickly and conveniently," the SSG.com official said. "We will continue to lead the online grocery market by continuing delivery innovation as well as product differentiation."
