Campinas, Brazil – Viracopos International Airport, located in Campinas, São Paulo, has once again solidified its standing by being named Brazil's best airport in the "Over 10 Million Passengers Annually" category in the passenger satisfaction survey conducted by Brazil's National Civil Aviation Secretariat (SAC). This marks the fifth time Viracopus Airport has received the annual best airport award, notably claiming the top spot in the overall category in its initial two wins.

"Aviation + Brazil 2025" Award Highlights Viracopos Airport's Unrivaled Record

On May 27th (local time), the "Aviation + Brazil 2025" awards ceremony took place in Brasília (DF), with the presence of the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho. Viracopos Airport claimed the "Best Airport in Brazil" title for 2025, following its wins in 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023. This award is always based on the previous year's performance.

Viracopos Airport was honored in the "Overall Category" in 2019 and 2020, and in the "Over 10 Million Passengers Annually" category in 2022, 2023, and 2025. This signifies that Viracopos Airport has received the most awards in the history of the "Aviation + Brazil Award" conferred by the Federal Government since the airport's privatization began in 2013, setting an unparalleled record in passenger satisfaction among the country's busiest airports.

Viracopos Airport achieved a score of 4.48 out of 5 in this evaluation, surpassing the average score of 4.39 for six airports in the same category. The overall average score for the 20 major Brazilian airports surveyed in 2024 was 4.43. The Federal Government conducted surveys with approximately 107,000 passengers annually, covering 20 major airports that account for about 86% of Brazil's total passenger traffic.

13 Quarterly Awards Confirm Ongoing Service Excellence

Before transitioning to an annual award system, the "Aviation + Brazil Award" was presented quarterly. Viracopos Airport achieved remarkable success in these quarterly evaluations as well, being named "Best Airport in Brazil" a total of 13 times. These include the third quarter of 2013, fourth quarter of 2013, fourth quarter of 2014, first quarter of 2015, first quarter of 2016, second quarter of 2017, third quarter of 2017, first quarter of 2018, third quarter of 2018, fourth quarter of 2018, first quarter of 2019, second quarter of 2019, and fourth quarter of 2019.

The passenger satisfaction survey comprehensively evaluates passengers' experiences across various aspects, including infrastructure, services, and operational processes such as check-in, security screening, and baggage claim. This clearly indicates that Viracopos Airport has consistently provided a high level of service, not just one-off achievements.

Airport Community's Dedication and Future Investment Plans

Gustavo Müssnich, CEO of Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos, the airport's operator, stated that this latest achievement is the result of a collective effort by the entire airport community to deliver service excellence.

Müssnich emphasized, "The new title of best airport in Brazil in the passenger satisfaction survey shows that our commitment to high-quality service continues to be recognized by our customers," adding, "the airport operator will continue to invest in improvements throughout 2025 with the goal of another award next year."

Marco Beme, COO of Viracopos, added, "Viracopos Airport has already been named the best airport in Brazil four times, and this new recognition proves our continuous dedication to improving customer service." He also noted, "We must not forget that Viracopos Airport is also internationally recognized for the efficiency and agility of its cargo terminal."

Detailed Methodology of Passenger Satisfaction Survey

The survey on passenger perception of airport performance is coordinated by the SAC technical team with support from CONAERO's Technical Committee for Operational Performance (CTDO).

Qualitative data is collected through face-to-face interviews using standardized questionnaires with departing and arriving passengers at 20 major Brazilian airports. Survey items include comfort, safety, services, and amenities. At the end of the questionnaire, passengers are asked to rate their overall satisfaction with the airport on a 1-to-5 scale. The results obtained from such a systematic and extensive survey serve as important data for identifying areas for improvement and strengths in airport operations.

Viracopos International Airport: Modern Infrastructure and Logistics Hub

Operated by Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos SA since 2013, Viracopos International Airport has the capacity to handle up to 25 million passengers annually and boasts a modern terminal that provides enhanced comfort and security for travelers.

The terminal hall features 72 state-of-the-art common-use check-in counters and self-service kiosks, maximizing passenger convenience. The airport complex has 28 boarding bridges and a total built area of 178,000 square meters, significantly larger than the 28,000 square meters of the old terminal (T0), which was completely dismantled in 2016. Additionally, the airport includes parking facilities for 4,000 vehicles.

Over the years, Viracopos Airport's cargo terminal has also received international recognition for its infrastructure, speed, and security in handling domestic and international cargo. This signifies its establishment as a global benchmark in logistics and efficiency. Viracopos Airport not only handles passenger traffic but also diligently fulfills its role as a crucial logistics hub for the Brazilian economy. The continued development of Viracopos Airport, which demonstrates excellence in various aspects, is highly anticipated.
