SEOUL, South Korea – HCT Co., Ltd. (KRX: 072990), a leading South Korean specialist in testing, certification, and calibration services, commemorated its 25th anniversary on May 30th with the unveiling of an ambitious new vision and strategic roadmap for the next quarter-century. The company's refreshed mandate, "Connecting people and technology through endless challenge and growth, a global technology partner that the world trusts," is encapsulated by its new slogan: "Where Technology Meets Value, HCT."

The new vision and slogan underscore HCT's commitment to delivering tangible value to clients through advanced technology, aiming to drive positive transformation across diverse industries and society at large. Heo Bong-jae, CEO of HCT, articulated a bold long-term objective, stating, "Ultimately, our goal is to emerge as a unicorn company, recognized globally, with a valuation exceeding 1 trillion Korean Won." This aspiration positions HCT among a select group of high-growth, innovative companies in South Korea.

Solidifying Global Footprint Amidst Evolving Market Demands

HCT is actively building the foundational infrastructure necessary to solidify its standing as a globally trusted entity in the competitive testing and certification market. The global Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) market is experiencing significant growth, driven by rapid technological advancements, stricter regulatory landscapes, and increasing complexity across sectors like automotive, electronics, aerospace, and medical devices. Key trends include a surge in demand for IoT, AI, and cybersecurity testing, as well as specialized certifications for new energy technologies. HCT, already a prominent player in South Korea, is known for its expertise in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), radio frequency (RF), and safety testing for a wide range of electronic and telecommunication products, including consumer electronics, industrial equipment, and medical devices. The company also provides precision calibration services for various measurement instruments, ensuring accuracy and reliability in industrial processes.

To address the escalating demands of advanced industries, HCT is strategically planning phased infrastructure expansions. This includes the consideration of a dedicated mobility test building equipped with high-voltage testing facilities to handle the complex requirements of next-generation vehicles. Furthermore, an EV (Electric Vehicle) and ESS (Energy Storage System) battery safety testing facility is under review, directly addressing the critical need for rigorous safety and performance verification of these high-power energy solutions. These investments align with the burgeoning global shift towards sustainable energy and electric transport, where safety and reliability are paramount.

Broadening Horizons: International Expansion and New Strategic Sectors

HCT's growth strategy extends beyond domestic infrastructure enhancement to aggressive international expansion. The company recently engaged in discussions regarding testing and certification cooperation in Chengdu, China, signaling a strategic entry point into one of the world's largest and most dynamic manufacturing hubs. Beyond China, HCT is actively exploring opportunities to establish global bases in Europe, Africa, and South America. These regions present unique market opportunities: Europe with its stringent regulatory frameworks and mature industrial base, Africa with emerging economies and growing infrastructure development, and South America with its natural resources and developing manufacturing sectors. Such global diversification is crucial for a TIC company aiming for unicorn status, as it allows access to new clients, expands service offerings, and mitigates regional market risks.

In addition to geographical expansion, HCT is eyeing significant new business opportunities within strategic industrial sectors. The company is exploring ventures in defense, bio, and nuclear power. In the defense sector, HCT could leverage its expertise in electronics and communications testing for military equipment, ensuring compliance with rigorous performance and reliability standards. The biotechnology sector, rapidly growing globally, requires specialized testing for medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics, an area where HCT could expand its certification capabilities. For nuclear power, testing and certification are crucial for safety, component reliability, and regulatory compliance of critical infrastructure and equipment, presenting a highly specialized yet potentially lucrative avenue for HCT to apply its precision testing and calibration prowess.

By strategically enhancing its capabilities, expanding its global footprint, and diversifying into high-growth, high-value industries, HCT is charting a clear and ambitious course to achieve its unicorn valuation goal, positioning itself as a pivotal global technology partner in the testing and certification landscape.
