HANOI – Vietnam's roster of billionaires has climbed back to six with the re-inclusion of Masan Group Chairman Nguyen Dang Quang on Forbes' latest list of the world's wealthiest individuals.

As of February 2, 2025, Quang's net worth rebounded to $1 billion, securing him the 2,718th spot on the prestigious list, according to Forbes. His return follows a brief exit from the ranking earlier in January.

This resurgence brings the total number of Vietnamese billionaires back to six, after a temporary dip to five. The other prominent figures on the list are Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of Vingroup; Tran Dinh Long, chairman of Hoa Phat Group; Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, CEO of Vietjet Air; Tran Ba Duong, chairman of Thaco; and Ho Hung Anh, chairman of Techcombank.

Collectively, these six individuals hold a combined net worth of $13.4 billion. While this figure represents a $500 million decrease compared to Forbes' data from early April 2024, it's an $800 million increase from the end of 2023.

The number of dollar billionaires in Vietnam has fluctuated between five and six in recent years. Pham Nhat Vuong made history as the first Vietnamese dollar billionaire to debut on the local stock market in 2011.

Looking ahead, Vietnam has ambitious goals for its ultra-wealthy. A government resolution issued in May 2024 outlines the country's aim to have at least ten billionaires and five of Asia's most influential entrepreneurs by 2030. This target underscores Vietnam's growing economic influence and its drive to cultivate a thriving business environment.
