Seoul, South Korea – Korean Air announced today that it will be introducing its first two Airbus A350-900 aircraft into service on January 27th, initially serving routes to Japan.
The first aircraft, registered as HL8598, will be deployed on the Incheon-Osaka route, commencing with flight KE723 on the morning of the 27th. This aircraft will operate two daily flights on this route. The second aircraft, HL8597, will debut on the same day, serving the Incheon-Fukuoka route with flight KE789.
Starting from the beginning of the summer season on March 30th, the A350-900 will also be deployed on long-haul international routes, including Taipei, Madrid, and Rome.
The A350-900 is a long-range, wide-body aircraft featuring a spacious cabin with a length of 66.89 meters and a height of 17.05 meters. The aircraft is equipped with HEPA filters that replace cabin air every two to three minutes, and humidity levels are maintained at 5% higher than conventional aircraft. Additionally, the cabin pressure is kept at a comfortable level equivalent to an altitude of 6,000 feet. With a maximum range of over 12,000 kilometers, the A350-900 can fly non-stop to destinations across Europe, the West Coast of the United States, and major cities on the East Coast, including New York.
To ensure the safe operation of the new aircraft, Korean Air has selected a team of experienced pilots who have undergone extensive training at Airbus' Asia Training Center in Singapore. The airline has also established a dedicated maintenance team and is in the process of obtaining authorization to maintain the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines that power the A350.
