Pohang to Host APEC Commemorative Fireworks and Drone Show

POHANG — Pohang City and the Pohang Cultural Foundation announced they will host the "APEC Commemorative Pohang Fireworks Show" at Yeongildae Beach on October 29. The event is a gesture of support for the APEC Leaders' Meeting set to take place in Gyeongju.

The show, themed around "the strength of steel and the city's dynamic image," will feature a spectacular display of fireworks and drones. This event is part of a broader effort to draw visitors to Pohang, with a number of other festivals scheduled from October 27 to November 1, aligning with the APEC conference. These include the Pohang Steel Art Festival, the Marine Food and Culture Festival, and a Chicken and Beer Festival.

This commemorative event comes after the city was forced to cancel its annual Pohang International Fireworks Festival in June due to heavy rain.

A city official expressed hope that the show will help revitalize the local economy by encouraging APEC visitors and other tourists to extend their stay in Pohang.
