KOREA — With just 15 days remaining until the historic 5th launch of South Korea's homegrown space launch vehicle, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) has officially opened the "Nuri Launch PR Hall" at the Naro Space Center Space Science Museum in Goheung, Jeollanam-do, on September 23.

The newly inaugurated exhibition space is designed to bridge the gap between cutting-edge aerospace engineering and the general public. It highlights the accumulated achievements of Nuri's first through fourth launches, illuminates the profound significance of the upcoming 5th launch scheduled for October 7, and outlines the visionary roadmap for South Korea's future space transportation capabilities.

A Decade of Technological Triumph and the 5th Mission

Visitors stepping into the exhibition are immediately greeted by a comprehensive retrospective of South Korea's independent space journey, which formally commenced with the inaugural launch in 2021. Through engaging multimedia displays and informative panels, the PR hall details the rigorous path of trial, error, and ultimate triumph that has defined the Nuri program.

The centerpiece of the current exhibition is the upcoming 5th launch, which marks a critical milestone for the nation's space ambitions. Unlike previous missions, Nuri will carry a diverse and robust payload consisting of 15 satellites in total: 5 ultra-small cluster satellites and 10 advanced CubeSats. This configuration demonstrates Nuri's expanding deployment capacity and its readiness to support complex, multi-satellite orbital insertion operations.

Furthermore, the exhibition sheds light on the evolving industrial ecosystem surrounding South Korea's space program. A key highlight is the expanded participation of private aerospace enterprises acting as system integration partners. History enthusiasts can also examine earlier milestones of domestic rocketry, including the KSR-III scientific sounding rocket and the second-stage kick motor from the Naro-1 space launch vehicle, South Korea's first orbital rocket developed in cooperation with international partners.

Perhaps the most poignant display for space enthusiasts is a 75-ton class second-stage engine that was severely damaged during ground combustion testing in the early phases of Nuri's development. By openly exhibiting this damaged component, KARI offers a rare, transparent glimpse into the grueling engineering hurdles and structural failures that researchers had to overcome.
