A Mutually Beneficial Festival with Local Small Business Owners Receives Enthusiastic Citizen Response

The '2025 Bucheon Wejoy Chimac Festival in BIFAN' was successfully held for two days, from July 4th to 5th, at the City Hall lawn square, attracting a large number of citizens.

This year marked the second annual Chimac Festival, following last year's event. Under the theme of 'Beer & Movie, Beer & Music,' it offered citizens a chance to enjoy chimac (chicken and beer) in the city center while experiencing culture and relaxation. Notably, this event held additional significance by providing a win-win opportunity for local small business owners and self-employed individuals.

The festival featured five award-winning international beer competition breweries from Gyeonggi-do, and approximately 80% of the food trucks were local Bucheon businesses, offering a variety of food including chicken throughout the festival. In conjunction with the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), a diverse range of free programs such as outdoor movie screenings, emotional busking, Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra performances, a local co-prosperity flea market, and photo zones were set up, receiving great enthusiasm from visitors.

Furthermore, this year, carbon neutrality practice events were also held to achieve an eco-friendly festival. Beer cups were provided in biodegradable materials or reusable containers, and participants who brought their own tumblers received a discount on beer. Additionally, in collaboration with beer vendors, "self-cup washing machines" were installed to foster an atmosphere where citizens could voluntarily participate in environmental protection and practice eco-friendly living.

A Bucheon City official stated, "This Chimac Festival has established itself as a representative cultural festival in Bucheon where citizens and visitors can come together." They added, "We will continue to create citizen-centered festivals where the local economy and culture grow together."
