Bucheon City announced on October 23 that the Bucheon City Hall athletic team achieved a total of 10 medals—2 gold, 2 silver, and 6 bronze—at the 107th National Sports Festival, which took place from the 16th to the 22nd across Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.
The Bucheon City Hall athletic team delivered consistent performances across four sports: track and field, swimming, wrestling, and tennis. Following 8 medals in 2024 and 6 medals in 2025, the team clinched 10 medals this year, marking their highest medal count in the past three years.
In wrestling, Kim Hyun-woo won the gold medal in the Greco-Roman 82kg division, while Lee Ji-yul captured the bronze medal in the Greco-Roman 77kg division. Notably, Kim Hyun-woo claimed the top spot in the Greco-Roman 82kg class and achieved his 6th consecutive National Sports Festival victory despite competing through knee and finger ligament tear injuries sustained during training.
In tennis, Cho Sung-woo won a gold medal in the men's team event, and Kim Chae-ri secured a silver medal in the women's team event.
In swimming, Jung So-eun earned a silver medal in the 400m freestyle relay and a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle. Park Han-byul added a bronze in the mixed 400m medley relay, Won Young-jun in the men's 50m backstroke, and Oh Se-beom in the 800m freestyle, bringing the total swimming medal count to 5.
In track and field, Ko Hee-joo contributed to the medal streak by winning a bronze medal in the 3,000m steeplechase event.
The city is systematically working on athlete development and training environment creation to ensure that the athletic team members can focus on training in a stable environment and enhance their competitive edge. Moving forward, the city plans to continue supporting the players' performance improvements to boost regional athletic competitiveness.
Yoo Sung-jun, Director of the Culture and Sports Bureau of Bucheon City, stated, "I extend my congratulations and encouragement to the athletic delegation for doing their best and achieving great results at the National Sports Festival," adding, "We will continue to provide steady support so that the athletes can train in a stable environment and fully display their skills."
