JINHAE, South Korea – The naval leaders of South Korea and the Philippines convened at the South Korean Submarine Force Command in Jinhae to discuss enhanced security cooperation and bilateral relations. Admiral Yang Yong-mo of the South Korean Navy and Vice Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Quiatchon Ezpeleta of the Philippine Navy engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening military diplomacy and arms cooperation.

According to the South Korean Navy, the primary focus of the meeting was to explore avenues for bolstering military ties through high-level exchanges and collaborative educational initiatives. The discussions also covered potential logistics cooperation, as Vice Admiral Ezpeleta visited the Naval Logistics Command in Jinhae to examine South Korean Navy maintenance facilities.

The timing of Vice Admiral Ezpeleta’s visit coincides with the scheduled delivery and launch of two Philippine naval corvettes, built by South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, set to take place on Thursday. This significant event underscores the deepening defense partnership between the two nations.

The meeting highlights the commitment of both South Korea and the Philippines to strengthening their maritime security cooperation in the region.
