Autumn Flower Waves Across the Three Major Streams

Daejeon City sows cosmos, zinnias, and sunflowers across 12 locations covering 120,000 square meters.

As part of its 2026 flower garden creation project, Daejeon City has established autumn flower gardens in major stream areas, offering a colorful seasonal landscape for visitors to enjoy.

Spanning 120,000 square meters across 12 locations along the three major streams, this year's flower gardens were meticulously cultivated with distinct characteristics for each stream: cosmos along Gapcheon Stream, zinnias along Yudongcheon Stream, and sunflowers along Daejeoncheon Stream.

In particular, the cosmos garden near the Expo Bridge on Gapcheon Stream creates a spectacular view—resembling a large-scale embroidered flower bed from above, while endless clusters of flowers blend with the stream below to resemble rolling waves.

Additionally, the sunflower garden along Daejeoncheon Stream has been created alongside the riverside road with heavy vehicle traffic, and is expected to bring joy to many office workers during their commutes.

These autumn flower gardens can be enjoyed for about a month starting now. The cosmos are expected to reach full bloom in mid-October, while the sunflowers and zinnias are expected to reach full bloom from mid-October onward.

Hwang In-hee, head of the Daejeon Stream Management Office, stated, "Daejeon’s three major streams serve as a green network passing through the city center. We hope that many citizens and tourists visiting the flower gardens will take a moment to relax and fully savor the autumn atmosphere."
