Province to Host '2025 Chungnam Sool Top 10 Appraisal' on June 10th and 11th

Chungcheongnam-do (South Chungcheong Province) and the Chungnam Economic Promotion Agency announced on June 9th that they will hold the '2025 Chungnam Sool Top 10 Appraisal' over two days, June 10th and 11th, to select the province's top ten traditional liquors of the year.

The Chungnam Sool Top 10 initiative aims to encourage interest in local traditional liquors and to promote the restoration, inheritance, and development of traditional liquors utilizing potential regional resources.

The province annually selects outstanding traditional liquors produced within its borders through this appraisal, providing support for strengthening competitiveness and promotional activities. This contributes to boosting the consumption of Chungnam liquors and revitalizing the local economy.

This year, 52 products from 36 breweries have been submitted, with plans to select the top 10 outstanding products across various categories.

The appraisal will be conducted across five categories: Takju (cloudy rice wine), Yakju/Cheongju (refined rice wine), Fruit Wine, Distilled Spirits (distilled soju, general distilled spirits), and Other Liquors. Evaluation will involve expert sensory assessments of color, aroma, taste, and texture, as well as on-site evaluations.

Lee Hyuk-se, head of the Rural Restructuring Division of Chungnam Province, stated, "Those selected for the Chungnam Sool Top 10 will receive comprehensive support for promotional activities, including exhibition and promotion at the Traditional Liquor Gallery, media promotion, support for participation in domestic and international expos to provide sales opportunities, and online/offline sales promotion support."

Meanwhile, the province operates a Chungnam Agri-Food Convergence Products Promotion Center on the first basement floor of the provincial government building, showcasing excellent agri-food convergence products from within the province and traditional liquors selected for the Chungnam Sool Top 10.
