Statistics Korea announced on Monday, August 11, that it is recruiting 29,828 field staff to conduct the 2025 Population and Housing Census. Applications for these temporary positions are open to anyone aged 18 and older and will be accepted from today until September 17.

Interested individuals can apply at their local city, county, or district office or through the official census website (census.go.kr). The agency noted that specific details, including recruitment numbers and application methods, may vary by region and should be confirmed on the respective local government websites.

The recruitment drive aims to fill 25,997 positions for household visiting surveyors and additional roles for managing and supporting the survey operations. The on-site data collection period is scheduled to run from October 22 to November 18.

Selected households are encouraged to participate in the census online or by phone before the start of the field survey. Surveyors equipped with tablet PCs will begin visiting households that have not yet responded starting November 1. This method ensures that the census captures data from a wide range of participants, providing accurate and comprehensive statistics for national planning and policy-making.

The Population and Housing Census is a cornerstone of national data collection, providing essential information on demographics, social structures, and housing conditions. The data is used by government agencies to make informed decisions on public services, urban development, and welfare policies.
