Following commercial banks such as Shinhan Bank and KB Kookmin Bank, Saemaul Geumgo has also suffered a hacking attack resulting in the leak of customer information numbering in the hundreds.

According to the financial sector on the 13th, Saemaul Geumgo confirmed that the personal information—including names and addresses—of approximately 400 customers had been leaked and reported the incident to the authorities.

Saemaul Geumgo published an official apology letter on its website under the name of the Head of Credit and Economy Business, stating, "We are writing to inform you that we have recognized a situation where the personal information of some of our customers has been leaked."

The leaked information includes customer numbers, names, encrypted resident registration numbers, account numbers, dates of birth, mobile phone numbers, home phone numbers, office phone numbers, home addresses, office addresses, email addresses, and account balances.

The central federation announced that upon recognizing the leak, it blocked the IP addresses used by the hacker and the roundabout access IPs, and conducted additional vulnerability checks and security reinforcement measures on the website.

Saemaul Geumgo stated, "We are individually notifying customers whose information leaks have been confirmed via text message," adding, "Customers can check whether their information was leaked and which items were leaked on our website."

It also added, "We promise to fully compensate customers for any damages incurred due to this leak."

With this incident, the total number of financial companies confirmed to have experienced information leaks due to hacking has risen to 10, including Saemaul Geumgo. Financial authorities are currently conducting on-site investigations into first-tier commercial banks such as KB Kookmin, Shinhan, Hana, and BNK Busan Bank, as well as Yegaram Savings Bank, Welcome Savings Bank, Hyundai Capital, PFCT (PFC Technologies), and Mouda.
