Los Angeles, CA - Southern California residents may need to grab an umbrella on Christmas Eve as light rain is expected to fall Tuesday evening.

According to KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo, the showers are not anticipated to be heavy but could cause some ponding on roadways and slippery conditions. The National Weather Service echoed this sentiment, stating that most areas will receive less than a quarter of an inch of rain.

Higher elevations, including the foothills and mountains, are expected to experience slightly more rainfall, with some areas north of Point Conception potentially seeing up to half an inch.

The storm system will also bring cooler temperatures to the region, with highs dropping to the 60s in most places by Wednesday.

The weekend before Christmas is expected to be mostly cloudy, but no rain is currently forecasted.
