Daejeon, South Korea – The beloved mascot of the 1993 Daejeon Expo, Ddooly, is making a grand comeback, this time as a larger-than-life digital animation on the facade of Daejeon City Hall. Thanks to cutting-edge technology, the iconic character and his family are now leaping off the screen and into the hearts of city residents.

A Visual Spectacle

Installed on the L-shaped LED screen of the city hall, the animation showcases Ddooly and his friends in a series of vibrant and engaging scenes. Using a technique known as anamorphic digital signage, the 2D display creates a stunning 3D illusion, making it appear as if the characters are popping right out of the screen. The intricate details and lifelike movements of the animation have captivated viewers, blurring the lines between reality and virtual reality.

Behind the Scenes

The project was made possible by a local company, Jeinaine, which specializes in creating immersive digital content. With support from the Daejeon Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, Jeinaine developed a series of short animations featuring Ddooly and his family, as well as other city-related themes. These animations are displayed on a loop throughout the day, offering a visually stunning and engaging experience for passersby.

Anamorphic Digital Signage

Anamorphic digital signage is a cutting-edge technology that creates a 3D illusion on a 2D display by manipulating the perspective of the viewer. This technique allows for the creation of highly immersive and engaging visual experiences, making it a popular choice for advertising and public displays.

Public Reaction

The Ddooly animation has been met with enthusiasm from the public, with many people stopping to watch the show. The animation has become a new landmark in Daejeon, attracting both locals and tourists.

Future Plans

Jeinaine plans to continue developing innovative digital content and exploring new ways to use technology to enhance people's lives. The company is also looking to expand its reach beyond Daejeon and collaborate with other cities and organizations to create similar immersive experiences.

Quote from Jeinaine CEO:

"We wanted to create something that not only entertained but also celebrated the city of Daejeon and its iconic mascot," said Jae-gu Jo, CEO of Jeinaine. "By using advanced technology, we were able to bring Ddooly to life in a way that is both visually stunning and emotionally engaging."

The Ddooly animation project is a prime example of how technology can be used to create memorable and engaging experiences. As technology continues to advance, we can expect to see even more innovative and immersive digital content in the future.
