The Chungbuk Institute of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as CBIST) announced that it has carried out the 1st "2026 Chungbuk Virtual Convergence Industry Innovation Center Visiting Infrastructure Service" by visiting Saehan Co., Ltd., a manufacturing company located in Chungju.

The "Visiting Infrastructure Service" is a field-oriented support program designed to rent out advanced equipment directly to industrial complexes and universities—where visiting the center in person can be difficult—and provide technical consultations on-site.

During this first visit, the institute introduced customized 3D scanning equipment for the company, conducted equipment rentals, and provided on-site technical consultations. Going beyond simple equipment rentals, it offered parallel practical support such as equipment operation training and content execution optimization, enabling companies to immediately apply the equipment to their actual work sites.

The Chungbuk Virtual Convergence Industry Innovation Center is the nation's first statutory innovation center designated following the enforcement of the "Virtual Convergence Industry Promotion Act," supporting XR and AI convergence verifications linked with regional strategic industries such as bio, semiconductors, and secondary batteries. This year, the center has expanded its collection of high-priced, advanced equipment—including the Apple Vision Pro, Samsung Galaxy XR, and industrial 3D scanners—to alleviate the R&D cost burden for local businesses.

In particular, along with the Chungbuk Virtual Convergence Industry Innovation Center, the institute operates the "Chungju Enterprise City XR Center" as a separate infrastructure hub. The Chungju Enterprise City XR Center utilizes extended reality (XR) technology to support the digital transformation of manufacturing industries—such as materials, parts, and equipment—and innovation in manufacturing processes, offering XR demonstration and development support, equipment and educational space rentals, and safety experience training.

Equipped with 19 types of XR and immersive devices such as the Meta Quest 3, Insta360 X4, RealWear Navigator, XReal Air2, and bHaptics gloves, the center also accepts reservations for equipment and facilities.

Cho Byeong-chul, Head of the AI Convergence Innovation Division at CBIST, stated, "Our goal is to help local companies—which find it difficult to acquire expensive, advanced equipment on their own—experience the latest technologies without burden and apply them to their work sites," adding, "We will connect the two hubs, the Chungbuk Virtual Convergence Industry Innovation Center and the Chungju Enterprise City XR Center, to expand our services so they reach every corner of Chungcheongbuk-do without omission."
