Chungcheongnam-do Province is accelerating efforts to broaden its engagement in Central Asia by seeking practical ways to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan.
On the 15th, Governor Kim Tae-heum met with Abdusalomov Alisher, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Korea, in the provincial office reception room to discuss mutual exchange and practical cooperation in various areas such as economy, culture, and education between the two regions.
This visit was arranged based on the friendship and trust Governor Kim Tae-heum has built through his direct visits to Uzbekistan.
On this day, the two parties exchanged various opinions on topics including: strengthening economic exchange and cooperation, revitalizing student exchanges, and settlement and social integration of foreign residents.
In particular, Chungcheongnam-do and Uzbekistan's Fergana Region have solidified a friendly relationship through three meetings between Governor Kim and Fergana Governor Khairullo Bazarov within a short two-year period during the 8th popular election term. This included the opening of a Fergana trade office within the province and the dispatch of an economic delegation centered around the Chungnam Northern Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The province plans to strengthen its recently active collaborative ties with Central Asian regions, including Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Going forward, it intends to connect local universities, chambers of commerce, and businesses to discover sustainable cooperation models in various fields such as economy, industry, education, and culture, and to build a robust international cooperation network among local governments.
