Almaty, Kazakhstan – Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, has been recognized as the “Best Tourist Destination” at the prestigious Qatar Travel Mart. The city’s impressive showcase of its natural beauty, rich culture, and diverse tourism offerings captivated visitors and industry professionals alike.

Almaty's participation in the travel mart involved a comprehensive strategy that included not only the "Visit Almaty" center but also six domestic travel agencies and the Shymkent ski resort. Through these efforts, the city managed to secure over 100 B2B meetings and sign 44 agreements, paving the way for attracting more than 13,000 international tourists.

"Our goal at the travel mart was to demonstrate Almaty's abundant tourism potential, stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and historical landmarks," said Almas Akpayev, a senior expert at Almaty's tourism department. He further emphasized that the Gulf region, with its growing interest in the city, is a strategic focus for Almaty.

The direct flight connection between Doha and Almaty was also highlighted at the event, underscoring its significance in facilitating travel between the two cities.

Aisha Shakenova, a travel agency representative, emphasized the benefits of participating in such events, stating that they expand global partnerships and enhance Almaty's visibility on the international tourism map.

"Almaty is definitely a city I want to visit," said Tariq al-Kubaisi, a visitor from Qatar. "The positive reviews I've heard make Almaty a must-visit destination where business tourism, recreation, and ecotourism are uniquely combined."

Almaty’s success at the Qatar Travel Mart is a testament to its growing popularity as a tourist destination. With its stunning natural scenery, rich cultural heritage, and commitment to sustainable tourism, Almaty is poised to become a leading tourist destination in Central Asia.
