The Daegu International Green Energy Expo, recognized as one of Asia's top three energy industry exhibitions, will grandly open its doors from April 23rd to 25th, 2025, at EXCO in Daegu. Marking its 22nd edition this year, the expo will host 300 companies from 26 countries, presenting core technologies in future energy industries such as solar power, hydrogen, wind power, and energy storage systems (ESS). It is anticipated to be a crucial platform for observing the present and future of the energy sector.

Notably, this year's expo will feature the participation of eight of the world's top 10 solar cell and module companies, including Hanwha Qcells, Trina Solar, Jinko Solar, JA Solar, and Canadian Solar, as well as six leading inverter companies such as Huawei, GoodWe, and Growatt. These pioneering companies are expected to unveil innovative technologies such as high-efficiency cells, artificial intelligence (AI)-based diagnostic technologies, and smart energy management technologies, leading the technological trends of the industry.

The expo will also intensely focus on Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), which has recently emerged as a significant topic in the renewable energy sector. With the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Green Building Basic Plan mandating Zero Energy Building certification (level 5 or higher) for certain new private buildings from June, the utilization of solar energy in urban areas is expected to expand, and the convergence of energy and construction technologies will accelerate. In response, Hansol Technics will showcase its MediaPV, the first in Korea to obtain KS BIPV certification. S-Energy will present its color and design BIPV products, while Absco has gained recognition for its technological prowess through government policy projects. SGEnergy, the leading BIPV module manufacturer in the domestic market, will also be a key participant.

In the field of solar cells and panels, HD Hyundai Energy Solutions is set to unveil ultra-low carbon N-type modules and next-generation perovskite cell-based solar cells, signaling technological innovation. Shinsung E&G will showcase its integrated solutions covering the entire value chain from solar module manufacturing to engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), enhancing its competitiveness. Ilgang E&I will introduce the first certified full-screen solar module in Korea, attracting the attention of attendees.

Furthermore, the expo will feature in-depth discussions on the hydrogen industry, which is gaining prominence as a next-generation energy resource. The 9th Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Forum, held on April 24th, will focus on the technological status and commercialization strategies of hydrogen fuel cells. The Hydrogen Market Insight session on the 25th will bring together major domestic and international organizations and companies, including Korea East-West Power, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) of Australia, to share hydrogen policies and business strategies. Additionally, various side events such as the regular academic conference of the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers, training for public officials in charge of renewable energy dissemination, business export consultations, and new product and technology presentations will provide participants with a wealth of information and networking opportunities.

Hong Seong-joo, the Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Daegu Metropolitan City, emphasized, "This year's expo will serve as a platform for information exchange on key issues in the energy industry such as carbon neutrality, supply chain management, and AI-applied solutions. It will be an important opportunity to grasp the future strategies of the energy industry at a glance."
