Daesahoe Volunteer Corps Replaces Aging Outlets and Switches... Electrical Facility Maintenance for 8 Households

Bucheon City recently conducted electrical facility improvement volunteer activities for 8 vulnerable households in the jurisdiction, alongside the Daesahoe Volunteer Corps as part of the Bucheon Volunteer Center’s "Love-Affection House Repair" project.

The Daesahoe Volunteer Corps is a specialized house repair volunteer organization formed by alumni who majored in electricity-related departments in high school. Linked with the Bucheon Volunteer Center, they have continued electrical facility improvement activities twice a year, in the first and second halves, and also carried out volunteer work for 9 households in the first half of this year.

This activity was conducted for households recommended by the customized care team of the Gyeonggi Bucheon Nanum Local Self-Sufficiency Center. Volunteer members visited each home to improve the living environment by replacing aging outlets and switches, and changing dark lighting into high-efficiency light-emitting diode (LED) lights.

In particular, at one household, they discovered that the bathroom wire had turned black and replaced it immediately, reducing the risk of fire. In addition, they guided elderly residents on electrical safety rules, striving to prevent safety accidents in daily life.

The city plans to continue supporting the house repair activities of specialized volunteer organizations in connection with the Bucheon Volunteer Center, and to focus on preventing safety accidents in daily life by improving aging electrical facilities for vulnerable housing groups.

Koh Mae-young, head of the Decentralization Division of Bucheon City, said, "I thank the Daesahoe Volunteer Corps for utilizing their expertise to work for the safe lives of our neighbors," and added, "I hope this activity will serve as an opportunity to reduce risks in the daily lives of vulnerable housing groups and spread sharing among neighbors."
