Chungnam Province is preparing for an innovative future in agriculture by leveraging data.
The province announced on the 10th that it has built new agricultural data unique to Chungnam by pseudonymously combining agricultural management entity information with KCB (Korea Credit Bureau) credit information and SK Telecom's location information.
This project is the first case nationwide where pseudonymization was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and it is also drawing attention as an example of data collaboration between central and local governments.
Pseudonymous combination, in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act, is a method of processing different personal information to make it unidentifiable before combining it, allowing for meaningful data analysis without exposing sensitive information.
The newly constructed data comprehensively analyzes the overall farm household economy, including farmers' income, consumption, and debt. This will enable customized agricultural policy support by region and crop.
As it will be utilized as basic data for various policies such as supporting young farmers, establishing region-specific agricultural policies, and fostering high-income farmers, it is expected to be of practical help to young farmers preparing to start farming and existing farmers.
The province plans to expand data use to the agricultural product distribution sector as well, analyzing distribution channels and consumption patterns of agricultural products to promote policies that enhance the efficiency of agricultural product distribution.
The agricultural data can be found on Chungnam Data Portal 'Alldam' (https://alldam.chungnam.go.kr/).
Jeon Seung-hyun, Director of AI and Data Policy, stated, "Data-driven scientific administration is expected to open a new paradigm for agriculture and greatly contribute to its development. We will continue to strengthen data-driven agricultural policies and make Chungnam a leader in the future of agriculture."
