Chungcheongbuk-do held an investment attraction briefing on the 16th at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel, targeting approximately 300 CEOs of advanced and leading companies affiliated with the MainBIZ Association in the Seoul metropolitan area. At the briefing, the province actively promoted its solid infrastructure and growth vision for key regional strategic industries such as semiconductors, secondary batteries, and bio-health.

Currently, Chungcheongbuk-do is driving regional economic growth with anchor semiconductor companies such as SK Hynix, DB HiTek, and Nepes, as well as world-class secondary battery giants like LG Energy Solution, LG Chem, and Ecopro. The province emphasized its leap into a global bio-industry hub through the creation of the Osong 3rd National Industrial Complex and K-Bio Square, along with the designation of the nation's sole bio-materials, parts, and equipment specialized complex.

In addition, leveraging its geographical advantage at the center of the country close to the metropolitan area and a nationwide transportation network, the province strongly highlighted its competitiveness as a core manufacturing hub in the central region, housing 152 industrial complexes.

Chungcheongbuk-do plans to actively establish the foundation for investment attraction in the 9th popular election term and solidify the basis for regional economic growth by attracting large-scale investments through pro-business policies such as unprecedented investment incentives.

Governor Shin Yong-han stated, "Investment by high-quality companies is essential for the success of the 'Chungcheong Great Transformation' in the 9th popular election term. We will create the optimal investment conditions desired by companies and spare no administrative support to ensure that companies investing in Chungbuk achieve absolute success."

Meanwhile, following the briefing, an investment agreement ceremony was held between Chungcheongbuk-do, Cheongju City, and DI Dongil Co., Ltd. for the establishment of a secondary battery core material production facility.

The agreement was attended by Chungbuk Governor Shin Yong-han, Cheongju Mayor Lee Jang-seop, and DI Dongil CEO Park Chan-gyu. DI Dongil plans to invest a total of 110.7 billion KRW from 2026 to 2028.

The new plant will be built on a 43,269.42 square meter site within the Hi-Tech Valley Industrial Complex in Gangnae-myeon, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju. With a gross floor area of approximately 19,800 square meters, it will construct a cutting-edge carbon-coated aluminum foil plant to expand production capabilities meeting global market demands.

This investment is a preemptive measure to capture the market for ESS (Energy Storage Systems), whose demand is surging due to the increase in AI-related data centers, and LFP batteries, characterized by low cost and long lifespan. Civil engineering construction is scheduled to begin at the end of this year with the goal of completion in the second half of 2027, creating 151 new jobs and significantly contributing to regional economic revitalization.

Park Chan-gyu, CEO of DI Dongil, expressed his aspirations, saying, "Based on close cooperation with Chungcheongbuk-do and Cheongju City, it is very meaningful to proactively construct a large-scale carbon-coating production plant as a leading domestic secondary battery aluminum foil company. We will leap forward as a top-tier global secondary battery material company and grow together in harmony with the local community."

In response, Governor Shin Yong-han stated, "I deeply thank DI Dongil for its bold investment, which is elevating South Korea's status in the secondary battery materials sector. We will actively support the seamless establishment of the company's global growth engine."
