(NONSAN) — The Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo Organizing Committee held a progress report meeting on the 22nd at the Nonsan City Hall conference room to review preparations and strengthen inter-departmental cooperation for the upcoming 2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo.

Attended by around 40 officials—including Nonsan Mayor Baek Seong-hyun, the deputy mayor, bureau directors, division heads, and expo committee members—the meeting focused on sharing department-specific project statuses, future plans, and key pending issues.

Nonsan City is pushing forward with various initiatives to ensure the expo goes beyond a one-time event, using it instead as an opportunity to drive comprehensive changes across tourism, agriculture, and the local economy while elevating the city's overall brand value.

During the meeting, 28 departments reported on 58 related projects, verifying departmental roles and necessary collaborations to ensure each project is executed smoothly ahead of the event.

Expo promotion and visitor attraction
Expansion of infrastructure at Nonsan Citizens Family Park
Rural experience and tourism integration
Event and operation management
Restaurant and accommodation measures
Traffic and parking management

With a large number of visitors expected to visit Nonsan, the city plans to meticulously review and enhance overall preparedness in areas directly tied to visitor convenience, ranging from tourism, transportation, and lodging to dining and core infrastructure.

Mayor Baek Seong-hyun emphasized, "Close collaboration between departments is crucial to translating their ideas and projects into action during the expo preparation process. We must pool our departmental capabilities together, execute plans flawlessly on the ground, and meticulously look after even the smallest details."

He added, "Through this expo, we expect the value of Nonsan's strawberries and agriculture to be widely recognized around the world, creating new opportunities for exchange and business based on it. Let us make this an opportunity to showcase Nonsan's potential to the world and elevate the city's status to a higher level."

Meanwhile, the 2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo is scheduled to be held for 24 days, from February 26 to March 21, 2027, around the Nonsan Citizens Family Park and Konyang University areas.
