Held for 2 days from Oct. 9 (Fri.) to Oct. 10 (Sat.) at Chuncheon City Hall Plaza

Hosted by Gangwon State and Chuncheon City, and organized by the Gangwon Research and Development Support Center, the 11th Gangwon Science & Technology Festival will be held at Chuncheon City Hall Plaza from October 9 to 10.

The Gangwon Science & Technology Festival is Gangwon State's largest science festival, which has contributed to expanding the base of science culture and providing residents with an opportunity to experience cutting-edge science and technology in one place. Under the slogan “Gangwon Science & AI Festival for Everyone,” this festival allows visitors to experience future science technology and artificial intelligence (AI) easily and enjoyably.

At the opening ceremony held at 11:00 AM on October 9, the first day of the event, the Gangwon Science & Technology Awards and Chuncheon Science & Technology Meritorious Awards will be presented to honor the achievements of researchers and entrepreneurs who have contributed to the development of local science and technology. This year's winners have contributed to the competitiveness and industrial development of science and technology in Gangwon State by generating achievements in various fields such as regional specialized research and development, fostering future talent, international cooperation, and the development and commercialization of bio and green bio core technologies.

During the event, various participatory programs will be available, including humanoid robot performances, science experiment shows, youth science golden bell, and unique science costume contests. Visitors can also directly experience cutting-edge science and technology at booths participated in by about 30 innovative institutions, universities, science museums, and organizations.

Talk concerts will be held by inviting popular science YouTuber (Soodragon Maker) and famous speaker (Astronomer Shim Chae-kyung) under the themes of “The Future Created by the Meeting of AI and Making” and “A Familiar Yet Unfamiliar Place, the Moon.”

Woo Sang-ho, Governor of Gangwon State, said, “Science and technology and AI are the core growth engines leading the future of Gangwon,” and added, “I hope this Gangwon Science & Technology Festival will be a special experience venue where any provincial resident can easily and enjoyably experience future technology and where science becomes a daily routine.”

Detailed information can be found through the Gangwon Science & Technology Festival website (gstipf.co.kr).
