CHOTCHON-MYEON, Buyeo County — On November 4, Chochon-myeon (Head of Township: Baek Hyeong-yeol) announced that it successfully held the "2026 Memorial Ceremony for Korean War and Vietnam War Veterans" at the Chochon-myeon Veterans Memorial Park located at 465 Chuyang-ri.

The annual event was organized to honor the noble sacrifices of veterans who fought to protect the nation's freedom and peace during the Korean War and the Vietnam War, while reaffirming the true meaning of patriotism.

The solemn ceremony brought together around 60 participants, including veterans, bereaved families, Buyeo County Mayor Lee Yong-woo, Buyeo County Council Chairman Baek Yong-dal, local organization heads, government officials, and community residents. Attendees paid their respects by laying wreaths and burning incense at the memorial monument to console the souls of the fallen heroes.

The program proceeded sequentially with an opening declaration, introduction of distinguished guests, national ceremonies including the singing of the national anthem, a silent tribute to fallen patriots and local guardian spirits, traditional wine offerings, wreath-laying, a memorial address, a commemorative poetry recitation, and a group photo session. Participants reflected on the dedication and contributions of the veterans, sharing a collective commitment to passing down their noble values to future generations.

Kim Yong-gyu, President of the Chochon-myeon branch for Korean and Vietnam War Veterans, stated in his memorial address, "Through this ceremony, we once again reflect on the noble spirit of our heroes and commit to sharing the value of national devotion and the preciousness of peace with our local residents and descendants."
