Incheon, South Korea – The South Korean Coast Guard has apprehended two Chinese nationals in their 30s for attempting to illegally enter the country by sea. The couple, identified as Mr. A and Ms. B, were caught using a rubber boat in the waters near Socheong Island, located in the West Sea off the coast of Incheon.   

According to the Incheon Coast Guard, the arrest occurred on March 8th, following a report from a local fishing boat captain. The captain, Mr. C, spotted the couple's rubber boat approximately 26 nautical miles southeast of Socheong Island and alerted the authorities.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A and Ms. B, who are in a romantic relationship, had previously worked in South Korea as day laborers. However, they were forcibly deported last year after being caught as illegal overstays.

The couple reportedly attempted to re-enter South Korea to address unpaid wages, amounting to tens of millions of Korean won, which they claim to have lost due to their deportation. They were equipped with life jackets and a compass, but became disoriented due to heavy fog and were subsequently discovered by the Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard plans to reward the fishing boat captain for his crucial role in the apprehension. They also intend to increase awareness among local fishermen about reporting suspicious activities related to illegal immigration.

"We are currently investigating Mr. A and Ms. B," stated a Coast Guard official. "We will continue to take strong and decisive action against any attempts to violate our maritime border security."
