Chungcheongnam-do Province is maintaining robust momentum for economic growth under its current ninth locally elected administration by securing a massive 1.5303 trillion won (approximately 1.15 billion USD) in investment commitments from 27 different companies. This strategic achievement is the result of a collaborative framework established between the provincial government and eight key cities and counties within the region.
On September 10, a joint investment agreement ceremony was held at the provincial government’s main conference hall. The high-profile event drew key leaders, including Chungnam Governor Park Soo-hyun, the mayors and county heads of the eight participating municipalities, and executives representing the 27 investing enterprises.
Comprehensive Scope and Industrial Diversity
Under the terms of the landmark agreement, the 27 corporate entities will either establish new manufacturing plants, expand existing production lines, or completely relocate their operations to the province. These facilities will occupy a combined area of 568,672 square meters across designated industrial complexes and individual sites spanning the eight participating regions: Cheonan, Asan, Seosan, Nonsan, Dangjin, Geumsan, Seocheon, and Hongseong.
Regional authorities project that once these facilities become fully operational, the initiative will directly generate 1,811 new, stable jobs, providing a substantial boost to local employment and regional household income. The investments cut across a diverse spectrum of industries, emphasizing both Chungnam’s traditional manufacturing strengths and its aggressive push into future high-tech sectors. Key focus areas include artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, advanced semiconductors, next-generation displays, secondary batteries, automotive components, and aerospace technology.
Detailed Regional Breakdown of Investments
Cheonan-si
As one of the province's primary industrial hubs, Cheonan attracted multiple strategic projects. An automotive electronics component manufacturer (Company A) committed 113.5 billion won to relocate its plant from Ansan to a 15,207-square-meter site in Pungse-myeon. Samyoung Sunhwa, a producer of ultra-high-purity hydrogen peroxide, is investing 98.9 billion won to expand its factory inside the Cheonan 5th General Industrial Complex. Furthermore, Duksan Neolux allocated 66.8 billion won to build an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) material plant in the Cheonan Technopark General Industrial Complex, while KD Coros Battery is investing 36.5 billion won to scale up primary battery production in the Seonggeo General Industrial Complex.
Asan-si
Asan secured vital investments centered on advanced components and materials. KS Autosys is investing 35 billion won to build a novel manufacturing plant for semiconductor dry vacuum pumps in Shinchang-myeon. An automotive gasket maker (Company B) is relocating its factory from Ansan by pouring 16 billion won into the Yeomchi General Industrial Complex, where cosmetic raw material supplier INC Bio is also investing 15 billion won to expand its existing footprint.
Seosan-si
Seosan reinforced its status as a core base for future energy and mobility solutions. SK On is channeling 58.7 billion won into its existing Seosan Plant 2 to convert a segment of its electric vehicle battery lines into production facilities dedicated to lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for energy storage systems (ESS). Additionally, within the Seosan Auto Valley General Industrial Complex, aerospace advanced metal maker HVM is injecting 116.5 billion won for facility expansion. They are joined by Kyungshin Cable (63.5 billion won), automotive transmission parts maker Mooryong (28.7 billion won), and industrial machinery casting and lithium carbonate producer Woosung Metal (30 billion won).
Nonsan-si and Geumsan-gun
Nonsan attracted capital from lithium secondary battery producer Route Jade (27.1 billion won) in the Gayagok agricultural complex, food manufacturer Y&B Food (15 billion won), and power transformer maker Gaonhae (6.6 billion won). Meanwhile, Geumsan drew investments from meat processor Top Meat (10 billion won) and health food producer Daehan Red Ginseng (10 billion won).
Dangjin-si
Dangjin’s Seokmun National Industrial Complex and Bugok District welcomed several high-impact projects. Iron phosphate producer Youngjin is investing 52.4 billion won, semiconductor thin-film deposition material maker LK Chem is committing 33 billion won to build a new plant, and black mass recycling specialist Evacycle is investing 30 billion won. Additionally, food packaging film producer JK Advanced Materials (15 billion won) and precision-drawn steel tube maker Global Dream Steel (13.6 billion won) are establishing new production lines in the Bugok District.
Seocheon-gun and Hongseong-gun
Seocheon’s Janghang National Eco-Industrial Complex secured projects from vehicle diesel exhaust fluid (urea solution) manufacturer Aton Industry (12 billion won) and electrical/electronic product certification service provider Standards & Companies (11.5 billion won).
In Hongseong, the Naepo Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex secured one of the agreement's single largest commitments: Optimus CDC is investing a staggering 600 billion won to construct a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) data center. This project will be complemented by medical device maker J-One Medics (5 billion won) and traditional seasoned laver manufacturer Byeol Food (10 billion won).
Broader Economic Impact and Future Outlook
Provincial economic models indicate that the engineering, construction, and equipment procurement phases of these projects will trigger massive economic ripple effects across Chungnam. Estimates project a production-inducing effect of approximately 1.92 trillion won, a value-added creation effect of 832.1 billion won, and an employment-inducing effect reaching 10,247 jobs during the development phase.
Experts note that the heavy emphasis on AI infrastructure and advanced tech manufacturing will profoundly upgrade the provincial industrial framework, anchoring a robust ecosystem for future technologies. Moving forward, the Chungnam provincial government plans to implement proactive administrative support and streamlined post-management to ensure that all signed agreements transition smoothly into tangible construction projects and operational facilities.
During the ceremony, Governor Park Soo-hyun expressed profound gratitude to the corporate leaders who chose to invest in Chungnam despite challenging global economic currents. He emphasized that the administration's signature "three major innovations" and "speedy administration" policies will serve as a reliable backing for corporate growth. Governor Park reiterated that Chungnam aims to leverage the distinct regional strengths of all eight participating cities and counties, foster tight inter-industrial networks, and accelerate balanced, sustainable regional growth.
