Bucheon City announced on the 8th that it introduced a food waste management system at the city hall cafeteria starting on the 7th to practice carbon neutrality and overcome the climate crisis.

The implementation of "Zero Food Waste" using the food waste management system aims to minimize food waste generation, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve resources, and create an eco-friendly city.

To improve employees' eating habits and reduce food waste, Bucheon City plans to adjust food portions, collect and monitor leftovers, and promote food waste reduction activities. Furthermore, this "Zero Food Waste" initiative is expected to become a practical step towards a carbon-neutral society and a climate crisis response action involving all employees.

A Bucheon City official stated, "This 'Zero Food Waste' activity will reduce environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions caused by food waste, and also serve as an opportunity to inform citizens about the importance of practicing eco-friendly living." The official added, "We will continue to promote various practical measures for the realization of sustainable carbon neutrality."

Through this "Zero Food Waste" initiative, Bucheon City plans to spread a food waste reduction culture, starting with the city hall cafeteria, and ultimately lay the groundwork for becoming a carbon-neutral city.
