Samsung Electronics is set to solidify its dominance in the global gaming monitor market by unveiling a groundbreaking lineup of high-resolution and ultra-high-refresh-rate products. On the 24th, the company announced that it will showcase five new Odyssey gaming monitors at "The First Look" event, held ahead of CES 2026 in Las Vegas next month.

The centerpiece of this announcement is the integration of "world-first" technologies. Most notably, the 32-inch Odyssey G8 (G80HS) debuts as the first gaming monitor to support 6K (6144x3456) resolution. Beyond its superior clarity, the device features a "Dual Mode" function, allowing users to switch to a 330Hz refresh rate at 3K resolution, catering to both visual enthusiasts and competitive gamers.

Samsung has also shattered performance barriers in terms of speed. The 27-inch Odyssey G6 (G60H) has achieved a milestone by becoming the first gaming monitor to surpass the 1,000Hz threshold, reaching a staggering 1,040Hz refresh rate (at HD resolution) via Dual Mode. This unprecedented speed is expected to provide an unrivaled edge in the e-sports arena, where millisecond reactions are critical. Furthermore, the Odyssey 3D (G90XH) combines glasses-free 3D technology with 6K resolution, pushing the boundaries of visual immersion.

The new lineup also includes the Odyssey OLED G8, featuring a QD-OLED panel with 4K resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate, alongside a 27-inch 5K model.

According to IDC, Samsung maintained its leadership in the global gaming monitor market (144Hz and above) with an 18.8% market share by value in Q3 2024, on track for its seventh consecutive year at number one. In the OLED gaming sector, the company holds a 27.4% share, leading for three straight years. By introducing these 6K and ultra-high-speed models, Samsung aims to widen the "super-gap" with competitors and secure its foothold in the premium display market.
