Daejeon, South Korea – In celebration of World Water Day on March 22nd, Daejeon City is hosting a "Water-Loving Drawing and Photo Contest" from January 13th to March 6th. The theme of this year's contest, aligned with the UN's 2025 World Water Development Report, is "Glacier Conservation."

Aimed at raising awareness about the urgent need for global action to address the accelerating melting of glaciers due to climate change, the contest highlights the significance of preserving water resources for future generations.

The contest is divided into two categories: drawing and photography. Elementary school students residing in Daejeon can participate in the drawing category, while the photography category is open to all South Korean citizens, including adolescents, university students, and the general public. The contest is sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Daejeon City Education Office, and the Korea Environment Corporation.

Participants can submit up to two entries per person. Photo entries must be submitted via email (dreamsfac@naver.com) from January 13th to March 6th, while drawing entries should be mailed by March 6th.

A panel of experts will judge the submitted works and select a total of 69 winning pieces, including 62 drawings and 7 photographs. The results will be announced on the Daejeon City website (www.daejeon.go.kr) on March 13th.

The winning artworks will be exhibited at the Daejeon City Hall lobby from March 21st to 24th. An awards ceremony will be held on March 21st, where winners will receive prizes such as the Minister of Environment Award, Daejeon Mayor's Award, and Daejeon Superintendent of Education Award.
