Jeju's Gueom and Tosan Ports Selected for Rural Vitality Enhancement Project

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 26th that it has selected 25 new sites for the '2025 Rural Vitality Enhancement Project,' including Gueom Port in Aewol-eup, Jeju City, and Tosan Port in Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo City, to improve rural fishing port infrastructure.

Overview of the Rural Vitality Enhancement Project

A total of 3 trillion KRW invested in 300 rural fishing villages
Project carried out in three types depending on the size and characteristics of the fishing villageCreation of a rural economic platform (Type 1)
Creation of a rural living platform (Type 2)
Improvement of rural safety infrastructure (Type 3)

Up to 5 billion KRW supported for each port over three years

Breakwater extension and tetrapod reinforcement: Resolving damage to port safety facilities caused by waves

Breakwater reinforcement: Preventing damage from high waves
Construction of a haenyeo shelter: Providing a resting space before and after fishing
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries plans to support the successful implementation of the project by operating an expert advisory group, providing on-site customized consulting, and conducting training for stakeholders.
