SEOUL – In a move set to redefine corporate productivity, OpenAI has announced a massive enterprise agreement to provide its cutting-edge AI tools, ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex, to Samsung Electronics. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Samsung’s digital transformation journey, aiming to integrate Artificial Intelligence into the core of its global business operations.

Under the terms of the agreement, all employees at Samsung Electronics in South Korea, along with the entire global workforce of its Device Experience (DX) division, will be granted access to these powerful AI platforms. This deal stands as one of the largest enterprise-level deployments in OpenAI’s history, underscoring the deepening strategic ties between the two industry giants.

Driving Innovation Across Every Department

Samsung plans to leverage ChatGPT and Codex to boost efficiency and problem-solving capabilities across various sectors, including software development, marketing, product design, and manufacturing. By embedding these tools within a secure corporate framework, employees will be able to utilize AI for complex tasks such as information retrieval and analysis, document creation, data interpretation, and creative ideation.

Codex, in particular, has become a vital asset for over 5 million weekly users worldwide, assisting in both technical and non-technical roles. Since February 1, 2026, the weekly active user count for Codex in South Korea alone has surged by nearly 800%, signaling rapid adoption and integration into daily workflows.

A Strategic Partnership for the Future

Kyung-hoon Kim, Head of OpenAI Korea, commented on the significance of the partnership: "This deployment is a monumental case in OpenAI's history. It represents a transformation where a global technology and manufacturing powerhouse like Samsung is utilizing AI not merely as a peripheral tool for specific departments, but as a core platform to fundamentally enhance the innovation capabilities and operational workflows of its global workforce."

He added, "We are committed to working closely with Samsung to ensure their employees can use ChatGPT to materialize ideas faster, solve complex problems, and create next-generation products and services."

Beyond Software: Building Global AI Infrastructure

The collaboration between OpenAI and Samsung extends far beyond software solutions. The two companies have already established a strong partnership in the realm of global AI infrastructure. OpenAI is currently collaborating with Samsung to secure the advanced memory semiconductors essential for building the next generation of AI infrastructure. As the demand for high-performance computing power continues to skyrocket, Samsung’s leading-edge memory technology plays a critical role in powering OpenAI's ambitious roadmap.

Expanding the AI Ecosystem

This landmark agreement reflects a broader trend of South Korean enterprises aggressively adopting AI to maintain their competitive edge. Samsung joins an elite roster of South Korean companies already utilizing OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise and API services, including LG Electronics, LG Uplus, LG CNS, GS E&C, Samsung SDS, TVING, Krafton, Toss, Musinsa, Korea Zinc, Nexen Tire, and Hana Tour.

As the corporate landscape continues to shift toward AI-driven decision-making and innovation, this partnership between OpenAI and Samsung is poised to set a new benchmark for how global manufacturing and technology firms can leverage AI to achieve sustainable growth and digital excellence.

By integrating these tools, Samsung is not only optimizing its internal processes but also positioning itself to lead in the rapidly evolving global AI market, ensuring it remains at the forefront of the technological revolution.
