LG Electronics Hits Historic Q2 Highs as Home Appliances and Auto Parts Drive Explosive Growth

SEOUL — LG Electronics Inc. announced today that it delivered its strongest second-quarter financial performance in company history, propelled by extraordinary momentum in its core home appliance business and rapidly accelerating returns from its vehicle component division. The South Korean technology giant posted consolidated revenue of KRW 23.8265 trillion ($17.3 billion) and an operating profit of KRW 1.5791 trillion ($1.15 billion) for the quarter ending June 30, 2026. This represents a 14.9 percent increase in revenue and an astonishing 147.0 percent surge in operating profit compared to the same period last year, eclipsing all previous second-quarter records for both top and bottom lines.

The landmark quarterly performance unfolded against a complex global macroeconomic backdrop characterized by persistent geopolitical instability in the Middle East, lingering inflationary pressures, and volatile supply chain dynamics. Despite these external headwinds, LG Electronics successfully navigated market uncertainties by leveraging industry-leading competitiveness in premium appliances, capitalizing on major global sports events to boost display sales, and deepening its footprint in the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) and automotive software markets.

Strategic Execution and Operational Efficiency Drive Margin Expansion

A combination of structural cost improvements, optimized supply chain management, and a deliberate portfolio shift toward high-value, high-margin products fueled the spectacular leap in profitability. Company executives highlighted that strict emergency management protocols, paired with aggressive expansion into Business-to-Business (B2B) channels, effectively insulated margins from broader consumer spending volatility.

Additionally, bottom-line results were bolstered by one-off factor credits, specifically substantial duty refunds associated with past import tariffs on U.S. export shipments. However, even when excluding these non-recurring items, LG’s core underlying operations demonstrated robust structural margin improvement.

Particularly notable is the structural transformation of LG’s revenue mix:

B2B Expansion: LG’s B2B sector generated KRW 6.5 trillion in revenue during the second quarter, marking a 5.0 percent year-over-year increase and accounting for 36 percent of total corporate revenue (excluding LG Innotek).
Subscription Business: LG’s innovative "Appliance-as-a-Service" subscription model—which bundles smart hardware with maintenance and digital services—generated KRW 660 billion in revenue, up 5.0 percent year-over-year, as international rollout gains momentum across Western and Asian markets.

1. Home Appliance & Air Solution (HS) Division

The flagship HS Business Company posted quarterly revenue of KRW 7.0757 trillion and operating profit of KRW 685.9 billion. This marks the first time in LG's history that the appliance division has breached the 7 trillion won quarterly revenue threshold. Operating margins reached nearly 10 percent, an unprecedented milestone for consumer hardware. Growth was catalyzed by a sophisticated "dual-track" strategy that simultaneously targeted high-end premium consumers with ultra-luxury built-in lines while offering tailored "volume-zone" models to price-sensitive mass-market buyers. Looking ahead to the third quarter, LG plans to aggressively expand its footprint across emerging markets in the "Global South" (including Latin America, Southeast Asia, and India) while initiating commercialization of high-performance robotic actuators.

2. Media & Entertainment (MS) Division

The MS Business Company generated KRW 5.1146 trillion in revenue and KRW 219.4 billion in operating profit. Revenue growth was invigorated by strong demand for premium OLED and advanced QNED TVs, aided by elevated consumer engagement surrounding major international athletic tournaments. The division’s profitability was further enhanced by the rapid monetization of its webOS smart TV platform, which continues to convert hardware installation bases into recurring high-margin advertising and content revenue streams.

3. Vehicle component Solutions (VS) Division

The auto components unit continued its transformation into a major growth engine, recording KRW 3.0259 trillion in revenue and KRW 191.2 billion in operating profit—setting new all-time Q2 performance records for both revenue and profit. This marks the second consecutive quarter in which VS revenue topped KRW 3 trillion, maintaining a healthy operating profit margin exceeding 6 percent. Backed by a massive multi-year order backlog, the division expanded its delivery of digital cockpits, advanced telematics, and EV powertrain components, while benefiting from stringent operational cost controls.

4. Eco Solution / HVAC (ES) Division

The ES Business Company achieved KRW 2.7261 trillion in revenue and KRW 235.8 billion in operating profit, registering a robust 8.6 percent operating margin. Global expansion of high-efficiency commercial air conditioning systems and heat pumps led the gains, particularly in North America and Europe where energy transition regulations favor eco-friendly climate controls.

Pivoting to the Future: AI Data Center Cooling and Next-Gen Robotics
Beyond strong current operations, LG Electronics outlined aggressive strategic investments to secure long-term future growth engines. Central to this vision is LG’s rapid entry into the Artificial Intelligence Data Center (AIDC) thermal management sector.

As high-density AI clusters featuring power-hungry GPU architectures push conventional air-cooling systems beyond their physical limits, demand for advanced liquid cooling solutions has surged exponentially. LG revealed that its independently developed Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) is currently undergoing final qualification testing to enter the global tier-1 AIDC supply chain. By integrating its industrial-grade HVAC technology with custom liquid cooling distribution, LG aims to capture a major share of the multibillion-dollar global data center infrastructure market.

"Our record Q2 results demonstrate the resilience of our core appliance business combined with the explosive maturity of our automotive component division. As we move into the second half of the year, we are accelerating our transformation into a smart life solution company—scaling platform services, expanding B2B systems, and establishing leadership in next-generation AI cooling infrastructure and robotics."

— LG Electronics Leadership Statement
Concurrently, LG is commercializing its proprietary robot actuator modules, leveraging decades of precision motor and inverter engineering. By offering standardized, high-torque actuators for industrial and humanoid robotics, LG seeks to establish a high-value B2B component business that complements its existing service robot offerings.

Outlook for H2 2026

Looking into the second half of 2026, LG Electronics plans to maintain its profit-oriented growth trajectory. While global economic uncertainties and elevated shipping freight costs remain potential factors, LG intends to mitigate risks through continuous supply chain optimization, expansion of premium TV sales, and deeper integration of webOS smart ecosystem solutions. With dual pillars in household appliances and automotive components driving near-term revenue, and AI infrastructure technologies building long-term enterprise value, LG Electronics appears uniquely positioned to sustain its growth momentum in the years ahead.
