SINGAPORE – A Malaysian permanent resident and his Iranian wife have been deported from Singapore and banned from re-entering after an investigation revealed their involvement in activities that posed a threat to national security. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the action on Monday, February 10th.

Parvane Heidaridehkordi, 38, had her long-term visit pass cancelled, while her 65-year-old husband, Soo Thean Ling, saw his permanent resident status revoked. MHA stated that Heidaridehkordi was involved in the operations of a Singapore-registered travel agency that sponsored visa applications for individuals with ties to terrorism seeking entry into Singapore.

The travel agency, which has since been deregistered, was reportedly a front for a larger operation directed by a foreign national based overseas. Following the investigation into the travel agency, Soo attempted to register two new companies in Singapore to continue the travel agency business. MHA said these attempts were intended to allow Heidaridehkordi to continue facilitating the entry of terrorism-linked individuals into the country. Both applications were rejected on national security grounds.

Due to Heidaridehkordi's involvement in activities deemed threatening to Singapore's security, and Soo's status as her family member, both have been declared prohibited immigrants. The MHA emphasized that foreigners found to be engaged in activities that pose security risks face the revocation of their immigration privileges and deportation.
