Gangwon State (Governor Woo Sang-ho) held the "3rd Gangwon State Female Fishers' Harmony Festival" on September 29 (Tuesday) at 10:30 a.m. at the Lotte Resort Sokcho as a festival of harmony and communication for female fishers, who are the reliable backbone of Gangwon's fishing village economy and key leaders in the fisheries industry.

This event was designed to encourage the hard work of female fishers in the province and strengthen their sense of solidarity through mutual exchange. It was attended by about 600 people, including Gangwon State Economic Vice Governor Shin Won-chul, Sokcho Mayor Lee Byung-sun, heads of major institutions and organizations in the province, and female fishers from seven cities and counties.

The main events featured a variety of programs, starting with a Nanta performance by the Wondeok Female Fishers Association in Samcheok, followed by janggu (hourglass drum) and traditional Korean music performances, awards for meritorious individuals, opening addresses, welcoming speeches, congratulatory remarks, and talent shows by each city and county's female fishers association.

The "Gangwon State Female Fishers Association," which hosted this event, was established on June 22, 2015, and currently has 553 members (led by President Cha Geum-ja) taking the lead in developing the local fisheries industry and revitalizing fishing communities.

Gangwon State Economic Vice Governor Shin Won-chul stated, "I hope this harmony festival will boost the pride of female fishers working at the forefront of fishery sites, and we will actively support our province's female fishers so that they can continue their fishing activities stably in a better environment."
