The Korea Tourism Organization (President Park Sung-hyuk, hereinafter KTO) announced that it signed a business agreement with Woojutech Co., Ltd. (hereinafter LeMouton) on the 28th at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul to revitalize walking tourism and spread a sustainable walking culture in South Korea. This agreement was arranged through public-private cooperation to broaden the base of walking tourism in South Korea ahead of the "Walking Tourism Week" starting on October 1st.
Through this agreement, the two organizations will launch various collaborations by linking the Korea Dulle-gil with the regional walking campaign "LeMouton Walking Club" operated by LeMouton. First, they will jointly plan and operate large-scale walking tour programs starting next year. Events will be promoted once each in the first and second halves of the year, with a scale of approximately 1,000 participants per session, and experiential programs utilizing the major sections of the Korea Dulle-gil and local tourism resources near them will also be developed. In addition, the two organizations plan to strengthen public relations and marketing for walking tourism by connecting their respective promotional channels and customer touchpoints.
Contents linking walking tourism and regional tourism will also be expanded. Programs combining the Korea Dulle-gil and local tourism resources will be developed targeting both domestic and foreign tourists to induce regional stays and consumption, and participatory social contribution programs such as environmental cleanup and plogging will also be discovered. Through this, the organization plans to develop walking tourism into a stay-type tourism content where visitors can experience the region's tourism resources and commercial districts together.
KTO President Park Sung-hyuk stated, "Walking is a way of traveling that allows you to experience a region's nature, culture, and tourism resources from up close. Taking the meeting between the Korea Dulle-gil and the LeMouton Walking Club as an opportunity, we will widely publicize the charm of domestic walking tourism and continuously expand cooperation with the private sector so that a travel culture of staying and consuming in the regions can spread."
