Lee Sang-deok, Commissioner of the Overseas Koreans Agency, visited Melbourne and Sydney, Australia from the 20th to the 22nd to hold meetings with Koreans and the 'NextGen Economic Seminar.'

Commissioner Lee attended the general meeting of the Oceania Korean Associations Federation held in Melbourne on the 21st. At the meeting, he listened to the main issues of the Korean community and explained the main policies and projects of the Overseas Koreans Agency this year to about 80 people, including officials from Korean associations in Oceania such as Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea, and heads of major Korean organizations in Melbourne.

Commissioner Lee evaluated the development of the Korean community in Oceania, which has settled stably despite its short immigration history compared to the United States and China. He emphasized that in order to achieve sustainable growth of the Korean community, it is necessary to expand communication between generations and encourage the participation of next-generation Koreans in the Korean community. He also asked for the Korean community's interest in the 'NextGen Academy' project, a model project of the Overseas Koreans Agency.

Prior to the meeting, Commissioner Lee visited the Melbourne Koreatown to communicate with Korean small business owners and encourage them for their efforts to promote Koreatown in Australia, a multicultural society. He also listened to the process of promoting Koreatown and the difficulties they faced.

After Melbourne, Commissioner Lee visited Sydney on the 22nd and held the 'NextGen' economic seminar, a major project of the Overseas Koreans Agency, and a meeting with Koreans in Sydney.
