Daejeon, South Korea – Daejeon City has officially begun the construction of the Bomunsan Forest Recreation Area, a major project aimed at providing a new natural retreat for its citizens. The project, one of the 100 key pledges of the city's 8th administration, received final approval from the Ministry of Forestry on January 17th.

The city plans to invest 800 billion won to develop approximately 2.96 million square meters of land into a comprehensive forest recreation area. The project will feature a variety of facilities, including forests designed for prenatal care, birth, early childhood education, general forest experiences, and even a dedicated space for pet owners. These areas will be interconnected with various ecological resources, offering a wide range of forest-based programs and educational opportunities.

“We aim to create a world-class forest recreation area where citizens can relax and improve their quality of life,” said Park Young-chul, Director of Daejeon City's Green Agriculture and Life Department. "We will do our best to make Bomunsan Forest Recreation Area a premier recreational facility."

Construction on the first phase of the project is scheduled to begin in March 2025, with completion expected by 2026. The entire project is slated for completion by 2028. In addition to the recreation area, the city will also expand the road in the Mokdal-dong area to improve accessibility for visitors and local residents.

The Bomunsan Forest Recreation Area is expected to become a popular destination for both locals and tourists, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. With its diverse range of facilities and programs, the area is poised to become a leading example of sustainable forest management and community development.
