Toyota Korea Amplifies After-Sales Service with New Mega Parts Center

SIHEUNG, South Korea – Toyota Korea is significantly bolstering its after-sales service capabilities with the grand opening of a state-of-the-art parts distribution center in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province. The expansive facility, boasting a total floor area of 14,876 square meters (approximately 4,500 pyeong), marks a 2.5-fold increase in space compared to the previous center, signaling the automaker's commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.

The new center comprises a main parts warehouse and a dedicated sub-center for accessories, currently stocking an impressive inventory of over 51,000 individual parts across 27,000 distinct types. This substantial expansion underscores Toyota Korea's strategic focus on providing seamless and efficient service to its customers throughout the country.

A key highlight of the new facility is the implementation of a sophisticated 'just-in-time' (JIT) supply system. This meticulously designed system ensures that necessary parts are readily available to service centers precisely when needed, minimizing downtime for vehicle owners. To achieve this, Toyota Korea has invested in cutting-edge logistics technology, including an advanced conveyor belt system and a barcode-based management system for precise tracking and inventory control. Furthermore, an integrated IT system allows for real-time monitoring of part locations, optimizing operational efficiency.

Addressing potential delays for less common parts, Toyota Korea has established a robust collaboration with its Japanese headquarters. This streamlined process enables the air freight of out-of-stock components to South Korea within an average of just five days. The sheer scale of the operation is evident in the center's daily outbound shipments, which average around 4,000 units. To ensure swift delivery across the nation, the company operates an efficient distribution network. In the densely populated Seoul metropolitan area, nine dedicated routes facilitate deliveries up to three times a day, while provincial service centers benefit from daily shipments.

Safety has been paramount in the design and construction of the Siheung facility. The center is equipped with advanced fire prevention systems, including a comprehensive three-stage dry sprinkler system. Moreover, stringent measures have been implemented to segregate the movement of personnel and equipment, minimizing the risk of accidents. To streamline the handling of heavy components and enhance workplace safety, Toyota Korea has deployed four 'Gururu' electric transporters throughout the warehouse. These agile devices facilitate the easy and safe movement of bulky items.

According to a Toyota Korea spokesperson, the strategic location of the Siheung Parts Distribution Center offers significant logistical advantages. Situated just five minutes from the Sihwa Interchange on the Seoul Outer Ring Expressway and in close proximity to the Namanseong Interchange on the Pyeongtaek-Siheung Expressway, the center provides rapid access to Toyota and Lexus's 67 official service centers nationwide. The spokesperson emphasized the anticipated benefits, stating, "We expect this new parts distribution center to not only significantly expedite the supply of parts to our service network across the country, including the crucial Seoul metropolitan area, but also contribute to a substantial reduction in vehicle repair times, ultimately enhancing the ownership experience for our valued customers."

This significant investment in after-sales infrastructure underscores Toyota Korea's long-term commitment to the South Korean market and its dedication to providing exceptional service that fosters lasting customer relationships and strengthens brand loyalty in an increasingly competitive automotive landscape.
