BEIJING, China – Two Japanese tourists, a man and a woman in their 20s, have been deported from China after being detained for taking an indecent photograph at the Great Wall of China, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The incident occurred on January 3rd when the couple, identified as Ms. A and Mr. B, were caught by security guards. Ms. A was photographing Mr. B exposing his buttocks at the historic site.

Chinese authorities detained the pair for approximately two weeks before deporting them. China has strict laws against public indecency.

The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the incident, stating that the two individuals had returned to Japan in January. The couple reportedly told the Japanese Embassy in China that their actions were "just a prank."

The incident has sparked outrage in Japan, where public decency is highly valued. Social media has been flooded with critical comments, with many Japanese citizens expressing shame and embarrassment over the tourists' behavior.
