The Chungcheongnam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services hosted the "6th Chungcheongnam-do Commodity Agricultural Research Association Advance Rally" at the Buyeo National Sports Center. Held under the banner of "Chungnam Commodity Agriculture, Built Together and Grown Together!" this significant annual gathering brought together approximately 840 participants, including Chungnam Governor Park Soo-hyun, leaders and members of provincial and city-county research associations, and heads of various agricultural learning organizations. The event served as a dynamic platform to share accumulated field-based agricultural technologies and best practices, while actively exploring future development directions for agriculture driven by cutting-edge innovations such as artificial intelligence (AI) and smart farming.

Celebrating Achievements and Fostering Community Solidarity

The day's program featured a rich array of activities designed to honor outstanding contributors and strengthen community bonds within the agricultural sector. Proceedings included award ceremonies recognizing individuals who have significantly contributed to the advancement of regional agriculture and rural communities, a heartwarming "Love of Rice" sharing campaign where the Chungcheongnam-do Commodity Agricultural Research Federation donated 800 kilograms of rice to help underprivileged neighbors, and agricultural specialty product donation ceremonies. Furthermore, the event highlighted successful case presentations by exemplary commodity research associations and master agriculturalists, an exhibition and evaluation of local specialty products, and a collective resolution reading ceremony.

During the resolution reading, participants united in their commitment to proactively respond to rapidly shifting agricultural environments, enhance the competitive edge of individual crop commodities, and drive sustainable growth for Chungnam’s agricultural and rural sectors.

Governor Park Soo-hyun Emphasizes AI Transformation and Solidarity

In his address at the event, Governor Park Soo-hyun praised the dedication of the participants, stating, "Commodity agricultural research associations are transforming the sweat of our agricultural fields into the high-value output of advanced industries through continuous technological innovation." He emphasized that overcoming multi-layered crises—such as the climate crisis, chronic labor shortages, and soaring management costs—begins fundamentally with "solidarity and cooperation" among farmers cultivating the same crops. He added, "As research associations serve as a vital bridge connecting field experience with high-tech solutions, I look forward to your leadership in illuminating the future path for Chungnam agriculture."

Governor Park also outlined key regional agricultural policies under the 9th popular election administration, highlighting the establishment of a "Chungnam-style agricultural data platform," the enhancement of the local farmers' allowance system to secure stable income bases, and the implementation of a specialized happiness voucher program for female farmers. "The 9th popular administration of Chungnam is establishing agriculture and rural communities as core pillars of artificial intelligence transformation and balanced regional growth, pursuing human-centered and field-driven innovations," Park noted. He further emphasized, "If we combine your hard-earned experience and technical mastery with artificial intelligence and smart agriculture, Chungnam agriculture will make a powerful leap forward as a 'future bio-life industry'."

Reflections and Broad Vision from Association Leadership

Myeong Heon-sik, President of the Chungcheongnam-do Commodity Agricultural Research Federation, reflected on the significance of the gathering, stating, "This rally is a meaningful occasion where members share the achievements cultivated in the field over the past year, learn from one another, and grow together. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen communication and cooperation among our members to add momentum to the continuous development of Chungnam agriculture."

Background: The Role of the Chungcheongnam-do Commodity Agricultural Research Federation
The Chungcheongnam-do Commodity Agricultural Research Federation is a prominent agricultural network boasting approximately 15,000 active members across the province. By sharing specialized crop cultivation techniques, up-to-date farming information, and practicing collaborative management, the federation plays a pioneering role in elevating farm household competitiveness and spearheading regional agricultural innovation.

Broader Context: Advancing Smart Agriculture and Future Prospects in Chungcheongnam-do

The timing and venue of this year’s rally in Buyeo highlight Chungnam’s strategic push toward modernizing its agricultural framework. As rural communities across South Korea face demographic shifts, aging populations, and unpredictable weather patterns driven by climate change, conventional farming methods are increasingly insufficient. By integrating AI-driven crop monitoring, automated greenhouse management, and precise data analytics into local commodity farming—ranging from specialty ginseng and melon crops to specialized local herbs—Chungnam Province aims to establish a resilient economic model.

The province's commitment to building a dedicated agricultural data platform acts as a critical infrastructure milestone. This platform is designed to aggregate regional soil, weather, growth, and market distribution data, empowering individual commodity groups to make data-backed decisions. Coupled with institutional safety nets such as expanded income guarantees and customized welfare for women in agriculture, Chungnam is actively creating an environment where young farmers and multi-generational farming families can thrive sustainably. The 6th Advance Rally thus stands not only as a celebration of current successes, but as a crucial stepping stone toward realizing an intelligent, high-tech, and self-reliant agricultural ecosystem in South Korea.
