DAEJEON — Daejeon City is setting its sights on becoming one of the nation's leading travel hubs, with city officials highlighting the tourism sector as a crucial catalyst for future economic growth.

On October 29, Deputy Mayor for Political and Scientific Affairs Ji Young-han attended the 53rd Daejeon Tourism Day ceremony at Hotel Sunshine in Dong-gu. The commemorative event brought together local tourism industry leaders and stakeholders to discuss the future of regional tourism and honor individuals who have significantly contributed to its advancement.

During the ceremony, Deputy Mayor Ji presented official commendations to 19 distinguished figures for their dedication to promoting local tourism.

Emphasizing the strategic importance of the sector, Ji remarked, "Tourism is a vital growth engine capable of elevating Daejeon's future value. I ask everyone here to pool your wisdom and innovative ideas so that Daejeon can truly leap forward as a representative tourist destination of South Korea."

City officials plan to build upon the momentum of the event by implementing targeted tourism initiatives and developing unique regional attractions to draw both domestic and international visitors.
