MANILA — The Philippines' total external trade in goods expanded by 21.3 percent year-on-year in June 2026, reaching USD 22.48 billion on the back of historic export performance, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed on Thursday.

The total trade volume rose significantly from USD 18.53 billion recorded in the same month last year. Imports accounted for 61 percent of total merchandise trade, while exports comprised the remaining 39 percent, yielding a trade deficit of USD 4.94 billion.

Total export revenues surged 24.1 percent to USD 8.77 billion from USD 7.07 billion in June 2025. This achievement marks the highest monthly export value recorded since the PSA began its official statistical series in 1991. Electronic products continued to lead trade growth, accounting for USD 5.25 billion or 59.9 percent of total export earnings, while also posting the highest gain at USD 1.37 billion. Other major exports included mineral products (USD 414.85 million) and manufactured goods (USD 401.37 million). The primary export destinations were the United States, Hong Kong, China, Japan, and Singapore.

Meanwhile, imports grew by 19.6 percent to USD 13.71 billion from USD 11.46 billion a year earlier. Inbound shipments of electronic products led all categories at USD 4.77 billion, followed by mineral fuels and transport equipment. China remained the country's largest source of imported goods, followed by South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, and the United States.
