Lionel Messi, the footballing legend now playing for Inter Miami, has revealed in a recent interview with renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano that he has no intention of becoming a coach or manager in the future. The 37-year-old World Cup winner also expressed uncertainty about his participation in the 2026 North American World Cup.

In the candid conversation, Messi discussed his current goals, focusing on helping Inter Miami become a top-tier team. Reflecting on his decision to join MLS, he said, "There's a lot of passion in MLS. I knew about the passion for basketball, baseball, and American football, but I thought football was a little less, but it wasn't. I was very surprised. It's a very competitive league where every team is difficult to beat away from home because each team is strong in their own stadium."

Messi emphasized the club's commitment to success as a key factor in his decision to join Inter Miami, stating, "The fundamental point was that the club is continually investing to win titles."

When asked about the possibility of playing in the 2026 World Cup, a question that has been on the minds of fans worldwide, Messi provided a candid response. "I don't know. Honestly, especially in Argentina, I get asked this question a lot. I want to finish this year well, and I want to prepare well for next year, which I haven't been able to do because of so much traveling. Then I'll see how I feel. I know we've gotten closer, but at the same time, there's still a lot of time in football and a lot of things can happen. So I don't need to think about it, I just need to take each day as it comes and not think about the future."

Messi also shared his thoughts on how he would like to be remembered. "People can remember me however they want. My biggest dream was to win the World Cup, and I fought for it for a long time, and it required a lot of effort. I was fortunate enough to win everything at Barcelona, with the national team, and to have a wonderful life and family. So I'm very grateful to God for everything I've experienced. People can remember me any way they want."

Regarding his long-term plans, Messi stated, "I don't want to be a coach. I'm not sure what I really want to be in the future. I just enjoy playing, training, and enjoying every moment I experience more than before."

In summary, Messi has clarified his post-playing career plans, indicating no interest in coaching. While he remains uncertain about participating in the 2026 World Cup, he is focused on enjoying his current moment at Inter Miami and helping the club achieve success.
