Despite the reopening of border trading points, Beijing has maintained restrictions on Indian citizens entering Tibet. This has disrupted the lucrative pilgrimage business for Nepali tour operators.

Safety Concerns and Airfare Hikes Recent air crashes and a deadly bus accident involving Indian tourists have raised safety concerns. Additionally, the closure of Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport for runway expansion has led to soaring airfares, making travel to Nepal less affordable for Indian tourists.

Nepal's Efforts to Revive Tourism The Nepal Tourism Board is actively working to address these challenges and attract Indian visitors. They are focusing on improving safety standards, promoting Nepal as a safe and secure destination, and exploring ways to reduce airfares.

While the government is optimistic about the potential resumption of direct flights to Kailash Manasarovar, the immediate impact of these restrictions remains a concern for the Nepali tourism industry.
