Asunción, Paraguay – A prestigious international symposium titled "Research, Education, and Biotechnology Applied to Health" was held on November 20-21, 2024, at the auditorium of the Central Public Health Research Laboratory (LCSP) in Asunción. This event, part of a multinational project of the same name, was organized by Paraguay's Ministry of Health's LCSP and supported by the Mercosur Structural Convergence Fund (FOCEM).

The symposium brought together renowned researchers from across the Mercosur bloc to share scientific findings and explore advancements in science, technology, and innovation applied to public health. Presentations covered a range of topics critical to the region's scientific and technological development. Notable participants included Dr. Wilson Savino from Brazil's Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, Dr. Eduardo Arz from Argentina's Buenos Aires Institute of Biomedical Research, Dr. Antonieta Rojas from Paraguay's CEDIC, Dr. Federico Mora, Vice Minister of Higher Education of Paraguay, and Dr. Luis Barbeito from Uruguay's Pasteur Institute.

The event underscored Mercosur's commitment to strengthening research applied to health and facilitated knowledge exchange and collaboration among member countries.
