Governor Kim Tae-heum Participates in Tug-of-War at the Festival on the 13th, Emphasizing, "Development Comes from Tradition and Culture."
Governor Kim Tae-heum of Chungcheongnam-do visited the "2025 Gijisi Juldarigi Festival" held at the Gijisi Juldarigi Museum in Songak-eup, Dangjin-si, on the 13th, spending time with local residents and tourists to reflect on the value of tradition.

Approximately 10,000 people, including Governor Kim, the Mayor of Dangjin, and representatives from the Gijisi Juldarigi Preservation Society, attended the event, which included the "Julnagagi" (rope procession), discussions, and the tug-of-war itself.

Governor Kim participated in the "Julnagagi" and tug-of-war, communicating with residents and festival participants and experiencing traditional culture.

At the event, Governor Kim stated, "Culture is like the soul of a country and its people." He added, "Only with cultural support can genuine development continue, and deep-rooted culture comes from time-honored traditions."

He also said, "This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Gijisi Juldarigi's inscription on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list. We will provide full support to ensure it continues for over 100 years and becomes a world-class cultural heritage representing Korea."
