Asunción, Paraguay - The inauguration ceremony of the 'Paraguayan Korean Medical Association' was successfully held on April 10th at the Laboratorio Catedral Convention Center, located on España Avenue in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. Approximately 160 attendees, including representatives from healthcare companies, pharmaceutical executives, and key figures from the Paraguayan health authorities, celebrated the association's launch and expressed high expectations for future medical cooperation between the two nations.

Congratulatory Remarks and Commitment to Cooperation from Key Figures

The event commenced with a congratulatory address by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Paraguay, Chansik Yoon. Ambassador Yoon sincerely congratulated the establishment of the Paraguayan Korean Medical Association, emphasizing its crucial role in promoting exchange and cooperation in the medical field between Korea and Paraguay. Following him, Senators Lilian Samaniego and Noelia Cabrera Peters, as well as the President of the National University of Asunción (UNA), Dr. Zully Vera de Molinas, also delivered congratulatory speeches, celebrating the association's inauguration and expressing their anticipation for its contribution to the development of healthcare in Paraguay. They collectively pledged their active support for closer cooperation and mutual development between Korea and Paraguay, agreeing that the association would serve as a vital bridge between the two medical communities.

MOU Signed with Yaguarón Mayor, Strengthening Local Government Collaboration

Notably, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between the Paraguayan Korean Medical Association and the city of Yaguarón, attended by the Mayor of Yaguarón and Dr. Luis Rodríguez Lugo, added significant meaning to the event. This MOU is expected to be a crucial step in elevating cooperation in the medical and health sectors between the association and local governments. The association announced its plans to pursue various collaborative projects to improve the health of Yaguarón residents and to expand the scope of cooperation throughout Paraguay. Attendees at the signing ceremony emphasized that this agreement would lay a solid foundation for mutual respect and development between the two entities.

MOU Signed with the Korean Association, Contributing to the Health of the Korean Community

In the subsequent part of the event, an MOU signing ceremony took place between the Paraguayan Korean Association and the Paraguayan Korean Medical Association. Through this agreement, both organizations officially established a cooperative system to enhance the health of the Korean community in Paraguay, promising to jointly promote various initiatives such as health lectures, medical consultations, and health check-up support. This is anticipated to make a substantial contribution to improving the health and welfare of the Korean community in Paraguay.

Special Performance by Soprano Lee Seul-gi, Delivering Cultural Exchange

In the evening, a special performance by soprano Lee Seul-gi heightened the atmosphere of the event. She deeply moved the attendees by singing arias from Puccini's opera 'Tosca' ("E lucevan le stelle") and Leoncavallo's opera 'Pagliacci' ("Vesti la giubba"). The final piece, 'MATTINATA,' received an enthusiastic response, leading to a standing ovation and two encores. This performance was praised as an impressive stage that showcased not only healthcare cooperation between Paraguay and Korea but also the potential for cultural exchange between the two nations.

President Chung Ji-yoon's Aspirations and Vision for the Future

Dr. Susana Cheong (Jeong Ji-yoon), a pediatrician at Hospital Bonasante and the inaugural president of the Paraguayan Korean Medical Association, presented the association's grand vision and specific goals in her inaugural address. President Chung stated with strong determination, "Today, we are not simply establishing a medical association, but rather planting the seeds for profound change to improve the health of Paraguayan society as a whole."

She continued, "Through this association, we will promote active medical exchange between Korea and Paraguay and build a solid foundation for the healthy lives of the Paraguayan people. With the dedication and passion of everyone gathered here, we will do our utmost to bring positive and tangible changes to Paraguayan society."

General Secretary Dr. Violeta Chun also emphasized the significant responsibility of medical professionals in her address, stating, "Health is not just an individual right, but a shared responsibility for all of us." She affirmed, "Today, as doctors and as members of Paraguayan society, we pledge to continuously strive for the health and well-being of all." Furthermore, she viewed the association as a crucial bridge for international medical cooperation, adding, "We will share advanced medical technology and experiences between the two countries and continuously contribute to improving the healthcare standards of Paraguayan society."

President Chung concluded her speech by passionately outlining the association's future direction. She emphasized, "Our association will serve as a pivotal platform for strengthening medical cooperation between Korea and Paraguay and will dedicate all efforts to building a sustainable healthcare system in Paraguay." She further expressed her firm commitment, stating, "Through active collaboration with medical professionals worldwide, we will play a central role in safeguarding the health of the Paraguayan people," receiving enthusiastic applause from the attendees.

The inauguration ceremony of the 'Paraguayan Korean Medical Association' marked a significant milestone, opening a new chapter not only in healthcare cooperation between Korea and Paraguay but also in cultural exchange. The association's vision is to focus on promoting the health of Paraguayan society and building an international medical network, with a commitment to the mutual growth and development of all its members.
