Chungnam Province Steps Up to Establish Order in Surveying Industry

- Province to inspect 327 surveying companies from October to December to verify compliance with statutory standards

Chungnam Province announced on the 15th that it will conduct a comprehensive inspection of 327 surveying companies within the province (63 public surveying companies and 264 general surveying companies) from October to December to check compliance with registration standards.

This inspection aims to eradicate paper companies that only register as surveying businesses without engaging in actual operations, and to foster a sound surveying business environment by ensuring that companies comply with statutory registration standards.

The province plans to first conduct a preliminary paper-based review by having each company fill out and submit a self-inspection checklist. Following this, a secondary on-site inspection will be carried out for companies that failed to submit the checklist and those suspected of failing to meet registration standards.

Key inspection items include compliance with registration standards such as representatives, business office locations, technical personnel, and surveying equipment, as well as whether business suspension or closure was reported, and whether the validity period for surveying equipment performance inspections has expired.

Based on the inspection results, minor issues will be guided through necessary procedures such as filing change reports, while violations—such as delayed reporting of location changes or failure to meet technical personnel and surveying equipment standards—will face administrative dispositions under relevant laws, including the imposition of fines.

Lim Taek-bin, Head of the Land and Spatial Policy Division of the Province, stated, "This inspection is designed to confirm whether surveying companies comply with registration standards and to eradicate paper companies, thereby establishing order in the surveying market. We will continue our efforts to ensure the substantive operation of surveying companies and the establishment of a sound market order through ongoing inspections."
